Primary Areas of Interest: Health communication, cultural studies, feminist theory, language and gender.

Professor Mastronardi has just completed a book manuscript titled After Ophelia: Gender, Adolescence, and the Politics of Popular Discourse to be published in 2004, and has published or presented over 25 research papers dealing with gender and communication. She is currently investigating health campaigns that target young women from a critical, cultural perspective. She serves on the editorial boards for the journals Cultural Studies and Kaleidoscope: A Graduate Journal of Qualitative Communication Research.
