Secretary IV
Bonnie Howard came to the ICR in 2001 after working for more than a decade in the Department of Computer Science here on campus. During her early years as a secretary at UIUC, Bonnie began studying for her bachelor's degree. While working fulltime (for 11 CS professors!), she attended Eastern Illinois University where she graduated with honors. After being surrounded by computer scientists and engineers for so many years, Bonnie experienced "culture shock" upon her arrival in the ICR. In spite of the adjustment period, though, she thoroughly enjoys working in the Institute where she says, "I feel that I work with people, not just for them." Bonnie likes learning new programs on the computer, but even she admits that she's not having much fun learning the ins and outs of the university's new BANNER/UI Integrate system. When she's not behind her desk at work, Bonnie enjoys baking, playing the piano and singing, having people in her home for fellowship, and being with her grown children. "We always have a good time together."
