ICR Launches New Website

July 13, 2004
by: ICR

The ICR is pleased to announce the "informal" launch of its new website, designed by the local Urbana company OJC Technologies (www.ojctech.com). We hope that the site will function as a resource for students, faculty, alumni, and donors. Please play around with the new website as much as possible over the summer and help us to proofread it before its "official" launch in the fall. Pay particular attention to the parts of the site most relevant to you (your homepage, list of journals, etc.) Marie Leger will be the webmaster through the summer, and David Monje will become the new webmaster in the fall. Some of the site's highlights include:

1) Calendar of Events

The website will have an ICR calendar of events, which can include such items as talks by students and faculty, interesting lectures on campus, and conferences. Anyone can add an event to the calendar. Once approved by the webmaster, it will be available for all to see.

2) News

The rotating news section of the website will include announcements of publications or activities by faculty or students, television, radio, or print appearances by faculty, To submit a news event, send a short paragraph or article and any relevant links (in "ready to be published" format) to the webmaster.

3) Faculty and student "sandboxes"

Faculty and students will have access to their own webpages and can embellish them as much as they like. Website design on "Webeasel" (the program used to run the site) is refreshingly easy. A workshop on website creation will be held in the fall.

4) Professional, teaching, and funding resources

Both the "for faculty" and "for students" sections of the site have several pages on resources. These include relevant professional associations, a long list of journals (with links to journal homepages), and funding resources. These pages will always be under construction, and we would like to make them as useful and as comprehensive as possible. Please review them during our website trial period and send along any suggestions to Marie (leger@uiuc.edu).

Enjoy, and happy surfing!!
